When time almost ran out... Today, we learned that last week Texas was 4 minutes away from a total collapse of the state power grid. To be exact, @ERCOT_ISO says we were 4 minutes 37 from a statewide blackout that could have left us in the dark for weeks. #khou

Last week was bad, but learning today how much worse it could have been. Per @ERCOT_ISO, it was 4 minutes 37 seconds away from a total collapse of TX power grid aka a statewide blackout. Had it happened, ERCOT says it's likely TX would have been in the dark for weeks #khou11

Greg Abbott and the Legislature desperately want everyone to blame ERCOT, but ERCOT is mostly just a traffic cop for the grid. This market was deregulated and designed by the Legislature and maintained and promoted by politicians. They are the deciders.

TEXAS BLACKOUT UPDATE: Right now, @ERCOT_ISO is supplying **less** power than it did yesterday at the very same time. ERCOT and the state did not properly winterize the states various generation systems because they didn’t want to spend the money. These include outside power plants, wind turbines and fortifying natural gas pipelines. Multi-system failure and millions suffer.

Hey @oncor @ERCOT_ISO how many Texas customers have been without power for more than 24 hours? We are getting hundreds of reports of dire situations. Are those part of the controlled outages? When can people expect to have their power restored if they've been out for that long?

It's confirmed: The blackouts in Texas are primarily because of frozen instruments at gas, coal and nuclear plants -- as well limited supplies of gas, according to Ercot. Frozen wind turbines were the least significant factor. https://t.co/10L8Br20iY https://t.co/MBoWt7BDmu
